Please find attached the instructions that I was sent by Tripplite for installing their PowerAlert UPS shutdown software on my Ubuntu system.
1) Do I need to pay any attention to the first note on the instructions that says "Login as root (not a root equivalent)" ?
2) If the answer to number 1 above is NO, then please give me directions for performing step number 2 on these instructions, assuming that I have download the JAVA installtion software to my /home/download directory on my Ubuntu computer ?
Hold for attachment, I am trying to figure out how to get the size down to the point that it will upload.
Here are the first few lines of the instructions:
PowerAlert 12 for Ubuntu and Java Runtime
Login as root (not a root equivalent)
1) Create /usr/java
2) Copy the JRE bin file to /usr/java
Thanks.
