How do I get rid of the log in bongo?

I have turned off all of the sounds but the bongo when the log in box at start pops up is still playing.

If you are talking about the GDM screen :
> System > Prefs > Login Window > Accessibility > uncheck Login Screen Ready.

Thank you Old Time Tech

I really hate sounds coming out of the computer unless they are videos or music.

The first thing I ever did on a win machine was turn off all the sounds. I hated it when I went to help someone with their machine and the sounds were turned on.

Once again thanks you made life better this morning.

Ok I got another one.

Where do we find all of the cool Penguin Avatars?

I quite like the Login Screen ready sound - I usually turn on the PC and walk away to do something else, so it's quite useful

Edit: Tux Avatars: http://tux.crystalxp.net

Edit 2: Seems the site is down for maintenance currently :(

It is useful, but I have it off because I often use my computer in meetings or public places :)

Mine boots up fairly fast so I just wait. Had not even thought about being in public, that would suck in the middle of a meeting. ThanX for the link as I need aPenguin now that I march with them.

I can see the appeal of both, I usually mute my laptop when at University
