I seem to have got a new folder in places that I don't remember creating and am not sure how to remove. It's called "their names...moc.*goes on, meaningless garbage apparently*.
It links to the Home folder. How can I get rid of it?

Open your home folder.

Once there click the Bookmarks menu and select edit bookmarks.

You can delete it from there.

Try opening Nautilus (Places->Home Folder will get you there) and then going to: Bookmarks->Edit Bookmarks. From there you should be able to remove it.

if you like you can always run your file manager as super user via sudo, so with standard Ubuntu just run this

sudo nautilus

(not too sure on the spelling of nautilus, i use ROX) but that should launch your file manager allowing you to delete the folder you want to get rid of, but first be sure you know what you're deleting and how it may affect the system, hope this helps,

Unfortunately, none of those worked. I don't think this link is a bookmark...

I stand corrected. It's gone. Not sure who helped me, otherwise I'd thank...
