Amarok problem

Need a bit of help people, I love using Amarok for playing my mp3 files, but recently when I either click on an mp3 file to play, or just select Amarok from my Applications option, the Amarok splash screen comes up, and the file plays, but the GUI fails to load up.

Now while the mp3 file plays, I can't adjust the volume or add tracks to my playlist etc.

Tried this command for a removal and reinstall;
sudo apt-get --reinstall

but to no avail, can someone please help me rectify this problem?, as Rhythmbox is a poor substitute at the moment.

I'm running Hardy AMD64
