exiting mythfrontend via [ESC] causes myth to freeze

ok this is the second time this has happened to me, and im looking for a little help. basically if i try to exit mythfrontend by pressing ESC, myth immediately freezes and i have to shut it down with the system monitor. when this happened before i just did a fresh install and it seemed to be fine, i was having some other issues anyway so it wasnt a big deal. well now its happened again and i really do NOT want to wipe it again because i have a lot of custom configuration and it will just be a pain to reinstall everything again. any ideas on where to start?

just did a fresh install. mythtv was acting normal for a day. and now its messed up again! this is very annoying not being able to easily exit the frontend. anyone?

We'd need some log files - check the link in my signature.

fixed. IP address was incorrect in the mythtv backend setup. this caused it to hang for whatever reason.
