Here's a total n00b question for you. What is Compiz Fusion?

I hear a lot about it and think it has something to do with desktop/window animations.

I also hear a lot about graphics cards issues with it. Mine is an Intel 82852/855GM integrated. Would this cause any problems?

Thanks.

Compiz fusion is best described in video :)

Your integrated graphics chip isn't very powerful, so whilst it will work don't expect greased lightning :)

It's basically software that provides some very fancy and useless (some are useful I'll admit ;)) effects for you're desktop. I think you could warrant calling it a Window Manager too, and a compositing manager (to get see-through title bars etc.)

sudo apt-get install simple-ccsm compizconfig-settings-manager

Then go to System > Preferences > Appearance and on the Visual Effects tab, change it to Custom. You can configure Compiz from System > Preferences > Advanced Desktop Effects Settings.
