Hi all
When i try to load a dvd movie into my dvd player i get a response of Could not read from resource from Totem. I have tried VLC but nothing happens when i load a *.vod file. I can play other formats in these media players such as avi files. Ubuntu does recognize the dvd because as i'm able to view the dvd files and yes i have installed the gstreamer codecs. I'm on Ubuntu 8.04 x64. Thanks for any help i may receive from the community.

do either of you recollect installing libdvdcss2? If not and you haven't added medibuntu as a repo go here and follow instr. Then run sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2

Yeah, this isn't working. I keep getting this error message: Unable to open 'x-nautilus-desktop:/%3CSaw_IV%3E.volume' I am at a loss here. I'm using VLC Player as Totem is not all that.

that isn't working for me.
after the most recent automatic update, VLC media player now opens the DVD then immediately closes. However, before this VLC would crash after trying to open it, now it just reverts back to the state it's in when you first open it.

totem now works, but VLC does not.
Oddly enough, when I open the disc on VLC, and select DVD (menus) it crashes. but selecting just DVD, works fine.
