Anybody here play Gnometris? It's one of the games included by default with GNOME... I'm a pretty big fan, and although I can't really boast any scores that would break the record books, my gf has managed to rack up some pretty impressive results, and I have to say I'm curious to see how her scores compare to what other Gnometrisers may have tallied. Her most recent accomplishment was a very respectable 420,124. Anyone else care to share?

I know this isn't really the typical sort of subject for this branch of the forums, but hey, it's a game, it's included with Ubuntu, so I figured I'd post here. Consider it a human-interest story. And it's on a distro that's for human beings... good enough rationalization? :)

Hi guys, I am too like, an avid Gnometris fan. Just love its simplicity classic tetris feel and is a great time pass. I think I can never reach the OP's Best score. My recent Highest been 77720 only.

I almsot got to level 10 today before I was interupted :(

High score - 22420

It starts to become hard after level 7. One mistake and you're out.

By far the best game. I suck at the others.

I got 234300, 123 lines, level 13 just a minute ago. Best I ever done.

Gnometris is definitely by far the best game on Linux, no question about that!

got 192800, don't remember which lvl.

I don't get it - how on earth is it possible to get 400000+ without going higher than lvl 10? Taking more rows at a time gets you more points, right? but everybody's playing by always taking out the maximum number of rows, and even in doing so I'm never anywhere near 400000 on lvl 10. is there some way to score more points I'm not aware of?

I love gnometris! My highest score is 130,000. On level 11. I cant get any higher than that at the moment.

There is a way to rack up more points. Getting rid of all the layers in one move will give you a ton of points. Its really hard to do, I did it miraculously one day and nearly had a heart attack because I wasn't expecting it. I don't know of any other way of getting a lot of points beyond getting four layers to dissapear.

Hi there,
I love gnometris too, there is always some time to play a round. My current high score is 146,680. I dunno which level, but I guess 11 or 12, because I don't recall ever getting beyond that and I also believe it to be impossible (for me) to get far beyond that score.

@ritchie: there's no way to get more points other than getting rid of 4 in one shot. And that's luck I guess.

I managed to score 105 000 points today (second time I played, and first one weighed in at 50 000-something, so extrapolating from there, I'll beat your score in two games... :-) ). Not new to Tetris though, just Gnometris.

I remember playing on Windows (some Microsoft version of Tetris), and scoring above 32 000, at which point I learnt that the stupid coders had used a signed short to represent the scores... 32 000 quickly turned into -32 000... I figured I didn't really have to keep playing that one after that.

I came across with thread and I have to tell you my wife is really good in this game. She likes the older version of this game and I have downgraded Hardy's version for her. You will probably not believe me, but her highest score is 910013 and she is determined to break 1 million. If you want to get into top 10, you need to beat 571838.

My top score is around the 157000 mark. To get in the top 10 you have to beat 110000. Those scores seemed to rack up during a boring lectures.

104780 for me.

I didn't think I'd ever get above the 30,000's. Then I got the 4-rows at once, then followed by clearing the entire screen. I didn't think that was possible with this version of the game. I thought that was where the big points came from, but perhaps it could have been just the clear-4-rows.

Hey.. man..see we have linux ubuntu in the school, and we used to play gnome games a lot, especially Gnometris. We revealed a cheat in this game and my best highscore is 29 938 020 and the 1st in whole school had a record of 31 987 340 pts which makes me the 4th in my school. Now im looking for this package of Gnome games to install in my school and play again because some admins erased the games =) noobs.. :D If you want to contact me you can find me on my skype address: johnson_boy to help me (in some kinda way) or ask how to activate the cheat.. by the way it's in the settings.. btw im 17 and im from Macedonia.. see ya :)

the package containing gnometris is called gnome-games, but you won't be able to install it without super-user rights (the sudo password). it sounds like the 'help' you are asking for qualifies as hacking which would probably get you into serious trouble with your school.

just reached 169000. no trick, no cheat. simply (stupidly ?) trying to catch points doing 4 lines in one time, until i start to panic. the screenshot here :
