8.04 - wireless not working

I have just accquired a dell d400 and installed 8.04, and wireless does not work,even though the card is detected, when I try to connect to my router it does not work, it it constantly asking for a WAP code and eventhough I enter it correctly it never gets a correct IP address

does it work fine when you try to give it a static ip?

in your ubuntu terminal type lshw -C network and post output here
