please can anyone tell me of program i can use to share video and music from peer to peer on the internet. for e.g on Windows we can use imesh. is there such o program for ubuntu?

frostwire or a bunch of torrent programs like rtorrent, azureus, deluge, transmission, ....

i've downloaded the rtorrent form synaptic but can't find where it has been installed.
i also don't know how to use transmission. the start button is disable. i'm new to ubuntu. please help.

Transmission is a bittorrent client, it isn't the same sort of thing as frostwire, which is more what you are after I think. You need to download a .torrent file from a website in order to download a file with transmission.

rtorrent is a command line application. You can run it by typing rtorrent into a terminal.

Use LimeWire, it works without any setup.

rTorrent has no GUI, so I would try a different client for torrents. Deluge is great.
Click here to install Deluge. (apt:deluge-torrent)

thanks to u all. infact i've installed limewire and been able to share file. thanks again.
