I tried to go as far without asking this question, but I cannot get DVD's to play, or be ripped whatsoever. However, I can put the disc in, it is recognized, I can see the files, but VLC, Totem, Mplayer will either close or give the error it won't play the dvd.

I used to be able to do this, maybe a month ago, but I cannot think of anything I've done int hat time to screw it up, and I cannot seem to fix this in any manner. Starting from basics, what could be my problem and what can I do so I can play and rip DVD's again? Any and all help is appreciated.
