Hi ubuntu fellows,

I have installed gens and have started to play Sonic (OLD TIMES :) , tough when playing in Gens (Render Option) Normal little square everything seems to work fine, sound, movement and so on

BUT

as soon as i increase the size of thw window less say for double the sound scratch and sonic moves in slow motion....then i have modified the frame skip from Auto to 2...the sound is good but now sonic moves to FAST...if i turn to 1 same s****, sound and sonic in slow motion....

Any idea how to solve this one...playing this games in a little SQUARE is not my idea of fun as you can imagine.

Thks

I have this problem with a couple of emulators - you can play with the desktop res to increase the size of the viewable window - or maybe it's decrease :). Ctrl, Alt, + and Ctrl, Alt, - change the viewabale window size of X - use the mouse to scroll to the Gens window when you've found the appropriate size. You can get close enough to full screen using this method.

I also use a KDE tray app called "Resize & Rotate" to play with the X res - this has the advantage of resizing the desktop to match. Not sure if there's a Gnome equivalent.

Thks Fuzzix for your quick reply.

Will try your tip and see if at least i can increase that little square without damage the sound and the normal speed of the game.

What repository did you install it from?

I've had this problem too and went browsing around the forum for gens and someone suggested opengl gens which would be faster.
So a bit of googling turned up http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=1493089
Downloaded it and going to compile and hopefully try it out.

The lastest 3.3 release is on the 2nd page of that thread.
I'll report back later with progress.

Running it atm and for me it's slower than the regular version.
Can someone else try it and see what they make of it ?

I've given up on Gens for the time being. It's too slow to play with sound and not as much fun to play without sound. SO for the time being I've been using http://www.squish.net/generator/ isn't bad but no fullscreen and it does use 100% cpu on my box.
