Hibernate won't work on my first-gen MacBook (CD 1.83GHz).

The screen blanks, and I'm left with a flashing cursor. Then the fan ramps up until it's blowing at full-speed and nothing much happens until I use the power button to turn off.

That says to install the Hardy kernel to fix it, but I'm running Hardy!

I tried the steps at the end but they don't work and, besides which, are designed to help the computer wake up from hibernation. Mine won't even get to sleep, as mentioned.

from what it sounds like, I would venture to guess that a graphics driver isn't unloading. I can't really help more than that. Maybe you can get a system log leading to the (not-so) suspend state?
