I have an ibook G3 with the following specifications:
powerpc G3 500MHz
587MB RAM
120GB HDD
ATI Rage 8MB VRAM
I managed to run Xubuntu on it without a problem, but after adding more ram I wanted to use Ubuntu. I installed 8.04 via the alternate install CD for powerpc twice, both times with the same result.
Display: The screen is divided into sections, the right side is black and the bottom is mirroring part of the desktop. Here is an image of it: http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/8645/cimg0638tm5.jpg
Audio: When I click the audio applet it says "The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control." You can see more of it in this image: http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/8645/cimg0638tm5.jpg
Airport: Although it connects to my wireless network, the applet does not show that it is using wireless for some reason. Is there a way to get the wireless strength and information their too?
How can I fix the display and audio problems? These are the only factors that are inhibiting me from using Ubuntu properly.
Ubuntu is my favorite linux distro, especially for its really helpful community. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.
Thanks
