Dual monitor lag

This is something I've had since I first installed Ubuntu, but I'm finally fed up with it. If I have a video up on one monitor, not even fullscreen, and Firefox on the other, not maximized, clicking just to give Firefox focus causes my video player to lag for anywhere from 2-3 seconds. Sometimes, as of late, it will even freeze Kaffeine or VLC.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I went to search through the forum, but the Captcha isn't showing up for me, so I can't submit. All I see is "Refresh image", which does nothing...

Do you have two video cards or one? What video card do you have and what drivers? How did you set up the dual screens?

I have dual monitors set up on a 6600 gt using TwinView and I'm not experiencing this problem.

Just one GeForce 8800GTS, Twinview Also. Scrolling up/down a page in Firefox is doing it as well.
