VLC is running smoothly but Mythbuntu frontend is really sluggish

Just purchased and installed an ATI Radeon X1650 based graphic adapter in one of my frontends, I am facing an issue with live TV and video playback.

In this case my ATI Radeon X1650 works fine when using VLC on the frontend for streaming TV or video from my Mythbuntu backend server including playing DVDs in the local DVD drive on the frontend; however when shifting to Mythbuntu frontend and try to perform same activities I get really sluggish performance

Reading through earlier postings in this forum I realize that there might be some driver issues related to this card but I would expect the situation to be the same regardsless of the selected frontend

Can anybody help?

What are your playback settings?

It was a backend configuration issue.

What did you do to solve this? I have an X1650 in my combined backend/fronend server and playback is horrid in mythtv but fine in VLC.

I haven't been able to figure out if it's video or audio that is the root of the problem.
