I didn't see any other posts about this so I thought I'd post for everyone's benefit. Unfortunately, I don't have my Quake CD here in China so I can't check it out. If any of you guys can get it going, let me know how it is! I don't think I could play this for more than.... 3 minutes... without getting a massive headache.

whoh thats really cool. Is it lightning quick and full featured. if so i bet you could play it on anything

Haha, yeah I know. I love how the dev even says that on the website. The website is devoted more to defending how wrong it is than to actually introducing the game.

Anyway, where are you from in MD? I'm from North East/Elkton up in Cecil.

That is pretty old, i remember i tried it around year 2000 with my first connection to internet.

There used to be also a doom in ascii and some more games i don't even remember.

Now the doom one has even color

so, i'm a noob and can't seem to install quake, not to mention text-mode quake. I've got the source files from the site, what do I do?

This isn't all that awsome and unique. Lots of stuff has a ASCII renderer. Crystal Space has one. Even VLC can render movies using ASCII.
