The method after it was perfectly valid Java actually. Just missing a couple of System.out.s.
But I see now. It recurses until you get it. Normally a recursive call with the same input as a previous call indicates a problem... but the input isn't the same in this case :)

Though possible, yet virtually all hackers have done programming of some kind. Writing elaborate CLI commands (if not copy+paste) also usually counts as programming.
Wouldn't a hacker that doesn't know programming be just a script-kiddie with good intentions?
Looks like it is back to hacker vs cracker. Of course to be a cracker you would need to be a programmer, otherwise they would be a simple script-kiddie. However, to be a hacker, computing must be it's own reward. You don't necessarily need to be able to write code, only use it in unintended ways. And then there are hardware hackers as well...

Wow, thats cool, I can do that =D
It sometimes goes crazy on the hard drive so I kick it and it stops. Same with CD drive, though for it I have to hit the top with my hand or the top of the side.
This so hilarious. I used to do that with a very old CD player I had. the CD would start reading and go back with a click and start again. I had to wait the right time (before it starts again) and give and tiny but firm hit on the top.
Went to my friends place he had the same problem and they were all like: It's doing that again I can't fix it. I saved the day and it was hilarious.

I can definetly identify with this! Well worth reading and sharing with your significant other LOL :)
http://www.randsinrepose.com/archives/2007/11/11/the_nerd_handbook.html
Enjoy!
That piece may well have been written by somebody who understands nerds, but who does not know English well enough.
When you ask a nerd, “When I click this, it takes awhile for the thing to show up. Do you know what’s wrong?” they know what’s wrong.
The first part starts with a singular noun "you ask a nerd" then the second part switches to a plural pronoun "they know what's wrong".
The writer can't even use the usual excuse of the semi-literate: "it is to avoid a gender specific pronoun", since he has already stated in the article "for this piece, my prototypical nerd is a he as a convenience".
Nerds and geeks have many interests, not only technology. I think you can guess that I'm also a language geek.

me: Not that mutatedly is even a real word.
Someone else: It could be.
Another person: It is in Italian.
me: It's not, it's just mutated with ly on the end in the hopes that it makes it a verb.
Someone else: That's not a verb.
me: You're right, sorry, I was getting verbs and adjectives mixed up for some reason.
In my defense it was early in the morning and I hadn't slept the night before.

Not really sure if it makes you more geek than it makes you anti-social.
I was just thinking that I understand a geek like a smart hacker and/or generally intelligent (sometimes obsessively) person, with mostly (but not absolutely necessary) interest in IT and other such technology.
Being antisocial, sci-fi obsessed and other awkward characteristics, isn't quite geek defining qualities (though happens sometimes).
