Reinstalling VMware, adding existing VMs back in

My VMware mysteriously stopped working; the people at VMware suggested reinstalling. I'm not sure how to
1) reinstall VMware on Ubuntu
2) add back in my existing virtual machine

Any advice on how to do this would be most appreciated!

I'm using VMware Server, I don't know which version.
