is there any other alternative to gaining and installng the audio and video codecs in fedora aside from using codeina? does fedora have a program similar to automatix?

For multimedia codecs, USE EITHER:
rpm.livna.org
OR
freshrpms.net
DO NOT mix these two repositories, as they contain different versions of the same packages and are completely incompatible together.
However, I've had some issues with Livna as of late. Mainly with their XMMS plugins.

Yes, it's called easyLife (http://easylife.dulinux.com/)
