I know one of the great things about Firefox is the availability of many extensions. I used extensions off and on, but these days I find myself going back to vanilla Firefox sans extensions. Am I the only one who's extensionless?

One of the things I love about Firefox is the extensions (one of the things..) I don't have too many, but the extensions I use I find very useful.

Two - Addblock-Plus and Vimperator.

Darkade
July 16th, 2008, 06:33 AM
All-in-one sidebar
I use it to see the source of some pages
Chatzilla
When I'm not using pidgin I use this to use IRC
CSSViewer
I still have a lot of things to learn of CSS, so I can see the CSS code of things with this addon
DownloadStatusbar
I don't like to open a whole window just for one download
DownloadHelper
It downloads videos and other media files from several sites, including youtube
Stop-or-Reload Button
Merges the stop button and the reload button, kindda useless but there's no use in having both buttons at the same time either
StumpleUpon
To share and see web sites
Tab Scope
To preview what's in other tabs when browsing in several tabs LOL
Url Fixer
I can't really say it works but I have it any way :P

No firefox for me, but I do have epiphany and a few extensions loaded.

ad blocker
same as Filterset.G
cookie whitelist
all cookies are deleted on close except those whitelisted
gestures
mouse gestures
new blank tab
open a blank tab instead of default homepage
smart bookmarks
web search
page info
view webpage links and media

All are included in epiphany-extensions except new blank tab and cookie whitelist.

I don't use Firefox much now because it (along with Flash) seems to have been the cause of my system lock-ups. I am using Opera now with no problems.

The extensions I still have on Firefox:

-eBay tool
-Speed Dial
-FoxMarks

I also found this way to make opera run better on my arch install

sudo pacman -Rs opera

:lolflag: I'm just kidding, but I still prefer firefox (especially with Vimperator).

- Adblock Plus - Blocking
- FlashBlock - Blocking
- Compact Menu - Minimalism
- Faviconize tab - Minimalism
- Fission - Minimalism (no statusbar)
- Tab Control
- Undo Closed Tabs Button - this and tab control replace functionality from TabMixPlus, because I suspect it makes my firefox lock up.

I don't like having heavy extensions.

I have 4 extensions installed, but I only enabled 2 at the moment.

Flashblock
Blocks Flash elements by default. Click to activate them. Good for advertisement and music/animation blocking.

1 dictionary
I love spell check :)

Color Management and Fast Dial (both disabled)
I installed Color Management to test it. Fast Dial changes the home page to an overview of websites you can add yourself. After trying it, I still prefer a blank page ;)

Firefox in Ubuntu comes with an add-on installed by default, so unless you disabled it, you are using at least one.

I guess I'm a freak. I have 43 extensions active and a few more disabled to keep the number low. Before someone asks, the performance hit is about 30% compared to a clean profile.

Here is my list of currently active extensions:

How is it possible to have 0 extensions?
Are the 'Ubuntu Firefox Modifications' not by default installed?

If you compile Firefox, if you use Ubuntuzilla, if you download the version from Mozilla or install a development version (Shiretoko), then you don't get "Ubuntu Firefox Modifications".
