Have a SPARC
Sunfire 280r

Using video card ATI 3D Rage Pro 8meg
dont need 3d abilities

lspci shows something slightly different than what is in the xorg.conf file meaning:
lspci: 000000:00.01 something like that
xorg: 00:01:00

Have installed and un-installed and did the package reconfigure

the error is

"Screens found, but none have a usable configuration"

monitor is Dell 1503fp
1024x768@75
Hor 31-60
Vert 60-75
which is in the xorg.conf file


any help would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone have a clue

I have appended (which worked for the SunBlade 150) a line under the Video Card

option "ReferenceClock" "29.500MHz"

looked into the specs of the card and it was really 28.636MHz so I used that.
now I put that in for the 280r but still comes back with the same error

took out the framebuffer and still same
Put in the exact specs of the monitor still same results..
changed to a more Generic monitor still same results

I know it works for when the Sun boots it shows the Kubuntu splash screen

using Gutsy
