I've been trying to get Ubuntu up and running on a desktop with a Linksys WUSB54GSv2 USB Wifi adapter using NDISwrapper.
I followed directions as best I could. the 'ndiswrapper -l' command gives 'WUSB54GSv2 invalid driver'.

One thing I noticed is that when I unzipped the WUSB54GSv2.exe driver file downloaded from linksys, there was a WUSB54GSv2.inf and WUSB54GSv2.cat, but NO WUSB54GSv2.sys file; apparently there is supposed to be one, but nowhere in the files that unzipped is there any sign of one. Am I doing something wrong, or is Linksys hiding/encrypting the file somehow? Before you ask, I have the viewer set to display .sys files.

I would really like to learn enough about Ubuntu to abandon XP, or God forbid, be forced to move to that pathetic bloatware known as Vista, but it sure is tough to get over some of the setup issues.

If I have to buy another adapter, a USB standalone that has some range will be necessary; the PCI card stuck in the tower under the desk doesn't cut it.

Thanks so much for any help.:)

Thanks anyway, but I found another thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=225206) that gives all the available info. Just one more small issue to sort out.
