Hello.

I have a rather old nvidia fx 5200 working with the binary drivers (installed via the restricted drivers manager). I use it to play quake 3 in my spare time.
Recently i started having a weird issue with this game: it doesn't render fog correctly and the scattering of the plasma gun in the walls and floor have a strange look.

This is what i describe:

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/9885/shot0002cg8.th.jpg (http://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot0002cg8.jpg)http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/6197/shot0002ak5.th.jpg (http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot0002ak5.jpg)

The map is q3tourney5. In the first picture the fog wich would be yellow is black. Also notice the weird polygon effect of the plasma rifle. The second picture shows the same map, same place the way it looks in windows.

I've tried reinstalling the driver and the linux-restricted-modules. Also tried using a new user account. I also deleted the .q3a folder and i tried using the default settings in quake.
My machine is dual booting. in windows i have the latest driver (176.16) and it works perfect.

Can somebody help me?
This may not be big deal, but this game is a truly stress reliever for me. would be glad if someone could help or at least reply.

Hello. Has anybody had this same problem?
i'm considering reinstallation since there's no obvious solution and it worked fine ago.
i tried deleting the .q3a folder in my home, reinstalling nvidia driver, and reinstalling the game. I even changed the game engine from the one in the installer to ioquake3, wich is more up to date.
