I'm about to upgrade my video card (nvidia) to a newer one so I can handle a lot more video processing. Right now Magic bullet and Premiere don't work well, and it's due to my video card. I need recommendations on a good card for video editing that works with linux

So any other video editors out there? what card do you use (nvidia only please)?

Note: budget is around 150

is the 8800 better than the 9600 geforce?

thanks guys

I recommend the 8800GT as it is more Linux friendly. The 8800GT actually is more powerful than the 9600GT.

Are you running Hardy? Hardy supports the nvidia 8xxx cards with the restricted driver manager.

What video card are you currently running? If an older nvidia uninstall or diable the current restricted driver.

I am running hardy. Yea ok that's what I thought the 8800gt is more powerful.

my card works fine now, it's just plugins for premiere pro like magic bullet require a better card.

would you recommend a manufacturer? MSI or EVGA? I'm buying from newegg.
