The ECS being based on Nvidia would be a more Linux friendly mobo.

The ECS being based on Nvidia would be a more Linux friendly mobo.

how can i fix this issue?

System Setup:

As we mentioned in our GeForce 8200 IGP review, this chipset has a few issues currently with Linux. If you are using a Linux distribution that ships with a pre-2.6.25 Linux kernel, the Serial ATA support will likely go undetected. This means you will have a tough time using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS or other distributions from earlier this year unless using a separate PCI/PCI-E disk controller to get you started or building a new kernel first. The distribution we were successful using with the NVIDIA MCP78S "out of the box" was Fedora 9.

I found it in this site

If I use

ECS A780GM-A Motherboard,..will it worked perfectly for Ubuntu? It comes with ATI videocard,.. will Ubuntu have drivers for it?

Your question on the ATI drivers is too generic. There are open-source ATI drivers, AMD/ATI provides Linux drivers, and there's always ENVY to install drivers through an app.

But the newer HD cards (3870, etc) may not have drivers yet. Don't know -- don't use an HD card.

Would be best to post the model card you're getting so folks using that card can respond with their experiences.

so if to chose from

- ECS A780GM-A

and

- ECS GF8200A

what would be the best choice?

and in the sense that the ECS A780GM-A comes with ATI videocard,... what is ATIª Hybrid Graphics Technology? how do I enable it? What if I buy a videocard PC HD3650XT 512ddr3 will it result into a crossfire?

i'm a newbie i get confused all the time please help

as I understand hybrid graphics, it essentially shuts down your discreet graphics card (if the card supports it) and the onboard graphics take over (through the card's port) for less intensive tasks
