Hi everyone.
Can somebody out there give me some much needed advice?
I would like to buy a 22in TFT Wide Screen Monitor, but dont understand a thing about Screen Resolution and Graphics cards.
The Monitor that I have now is a 15in Flatron L1510S TFT, and my Graphics card is a GeForce 4 MX440 Series. The highest Resolution I can get is 1024x768, and the Resolution of the Monitor I want is 1680x1050! Do I need a new more powerful Graphics card to obtain this higher Resolution, and if so, which would you recommend with not too higher price?
I certainly DONT fancy calling into PC World for them to tell me that I need a very expensive card to get this new Monitor up and running...only to find out at a later date that my present card WOULD HAVE been capable!!!!
The Monitor's i'm interested in are Acer X223W, and the AL2216WD

Will be extremely grateful of any replies. Thanks.

Chances are your video card can do the higher resolution, but the 15" monitor probably isn't capable. Doing a simple Google for Flatron L1510S TFT, I come up with a product that says its max resolution is 1024x768. If you're going to get the 22" either way and it might require a video card upgrade, you may as well try the 22"er with the old video card first. Just don't get rid of your old monitor until you have a working configuration.

Thanks SO MUCH whitethunder922 for replying SO SOON with your sound advice. I understand ALOT MORE now! Going to do exactly as you suggest..purchase a 22"er and try it first with the card i've got. As you say I might be lucky enough not having to fork out for a more powerful Video card!! Again MANY THANKS..you're a STAR! Geoff.
