Hello,

I am having repeated problems with the audio on Ubuntu 8.04. I have installed all the required OS Updates. Here's what is happening.

In the sound option under preferences, the sound events, music and movies are all set to "Autodetect" and when i click on test, it throws me an error which i have attached. 77691

But, when i select another device like Intel ICH6 or Advanced Linux Sound Architecture, i can hear the test sound which is a long beep.

Irrevelant of which device i select, I am not able to test any wav files in the sounds tab. I would like to select the wav files for logout, login, error etc, when i select the wav file and click on play i don't hear anything!!

Also, the Rhythm Box Music Players doesn't play the normal mp3 files. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. This forced me to install VLC.

Kindly help,
Thanks,
Avinash
