A client of mine has bought a new computer and they enjoy their AOL interface as most longterm AOL users always have. I'm looking to see if there's an easy way to migrate the whole program (or at least the user settings/details) from the old XP system to their new Vista machine.
Any ideas on a utility that might do this?

You'll have to find out where AOL stores its settings. If it is a simple directory, you can probably copy it. If it is the registry (which is what I think it is), then you can't.
AOL is worse than a virus in my experience (try to remove it!) I can't recommend anyone use it.

You'll need to check this on the XP box, as I'm with LaRoza on this, and wouldn't go anywhere near AOL.
The settings should be in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL it will be hidden so you will have to show hidden files. Also, if you drill down there should be a sub folder with the users emails in it.
Like I said, I can't check this myself, it's partly from memory and partly a guess.:)

Well, I've got the password to the account (turns out it hasn't been changed in over a decade so it really is only 4 characters in length). And I also downloaded Microsoft's easy transfer software, which will hopefully take care of all the favorites, personal settings, etc.

When you attempt to remove application from 'Add/Remove Software' applet in control panel, doesn't AOL prompt you if you want to save the settings. I'm pretty sure the older vers saved the directory right to user desktop...
