Hey all,

I'm running Ubuntu Hardy Heron and I'm trying to get SMILE (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/SMILE?content=83276) working. It's slideshow software based off of manslide. It does the same sorts of things as Photostory. Anyway, it works beautifully except for one small problem. I can't get it to make a video. I've customized and saved a few videos, but I can't get it to encode. I installed sox, mplayer, and mcoder. My qt4 version is 4.3, I think.

It creates all the jpg files then when it goes to convert them into a video file it says it's completed successfully but there is no file (that I can see, anyway). I looked in the hidden file for the log but there is no log file present. I would be happy if I could just get it to generate the series of jpg's so that I can create the video file with mencoder or ffmpeg. It likes to delete them right after it thinks it's encoded the video, though.

Anyone had any luck getting this working? I'd even be able to install a separate Linux distro to get it working if I have to. Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

P.S. If you're looking for photostory-like software I encourage you to try this out (though for now I can't get it working). It's really cool software.

I cant get any photo to dvd or cd with any program from Ubuntu, been trying for a year ( photos on a dvd in a slideshow would be way too much to ask for) somewhere there are a bunch of children laughing at us as we try and use the command line
