My dad put Xubuntu on his old laptop. He needs to use it for presentations on projectors. I have no experience with Xubuntu, so I'm not sure how to set it up to detect and use a display through the VGA port. I know its an ATI mobility video card, but thats all. Any help keeping my dad from putting Windows back on this laptop would be appreciated.

In Add/Remove Applications install ATI Catalyst Control Center. Through there he can manage his laptop screen, and other screens he wants to hook up with VGA. Under linux when you want to hook up an extra monitor you normally have to log out and log back in to restart the X windows system.

I'd recommend he set it up as a seperate monitor rather than mirroring, that way stuff doesn't get stretched out.

I installed it, and the x.org driver package for ATI, and the control center doesn't run. It says it can't detect the card, or the driver. Is it possible to the card is too old for the driver? How do I find out the exact model of the card?
