Just discovered and installed this application. In my workaday world, I only have one old but very useful application that still runs in Dos. I have my XP shortcut setup to start it in the XP Dos shell.

Works ok at the office, but, as is usual for me, I get cranky at having to boot into XP for anything except some of my special photo/multimedia aps whose value top me offsets the crankiness that overcomes me when I have to boot into XP.

Anyhow, I have this one ap that is integral to my business activities, and it is little known ap developed early in the days of the PC. It's simple, accurate, rock solid, and does the job for me like no other ap developed since . . . and so, until now, I've been stuck having to always boot to XP in order to use it . . . . UNTIL NOW!!!!

I was just browsing through the available applications and came across the DosBox Emulator. The name described it well enough that I downloaded it to give it a try.

When I ran it the first time, the one or two lines of syntax explanation was more than sufficient for me to mount and navigate to the NTFS directory upon which my DOS only application resides. Typed in the name of the Dos exe file, and my application worked just fine.

It pleases me so much to see that, one step at a time, Ubuntu/Linux continues to takes development strides that accommodate my computing needs. I have no doubt that the day will arrive when I can complete all my computing tasks from within Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is so much more stable and straightforward on my machine than XP (XP being no slouch, however).

I love never having my machine's performance bogged down by some anti-virus or other application that just decides to start running in the background. I love not having to be concerned with the effects of viruses, etc.

I love Ubuntu (even if I still have a few aps for which I have to constantly return to XP).

DosBox Emulator . . . a great application.
