cant connect via ethernet

I have three computers my router died and i have to connect by cable to my cable modem . my daughters vista computer refuses to connect via Ethernet but previously connected through the wireless router with no problems.As virgin is a lan connection it should be always on i have no problems with my other computers connecting any suggestions.

i installled ubuntu on this computer and ethernet connection works but need windows as it's my daughters computer please help . Probably something simple.

Go to Control Panel and select "Network and Sharing Center" in the sidebar select "Connect to a Network". If that doesn't work select "Set up a Connection or Network". Just follow the prompts on the Wizards. Afterwards make sure your Firewall isn't blocking the new connection. You may also need to delete the old connection that was for your router, as Vista won't know it died.
