Hi everyone.
I am trying to find a good video recording program that will make a nice smooth recording. I have tried gtk-RecordMyDesktop, but even at the lowest quality, it makes a very choppy video. My best bet would be that my ATI card SUCKS. Actually, thatīs not a bet, thatīs a promise. Anyone trying to run Ubuntu on ATI knows what Iīm talking about. ;-)

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 latest updates and all with Compiz-fusion with some updated stuff (Like cube deformation and all) and was wondering if it is Compiz that is slowing the recording down to like 1.5 frames per second?

If so, I would hate to disable compiz for the recording because compiz looks SO great!

Anyway, all in all, I would like to know if it really is that I just have the worst video card in the world (ATI Radeon) with the worst processor in the world (AMD Turion 64 x2) that is making the recordings suck.

If it isnīt that problem, can you give me another screen recorder? Thanks!

P.S. Iīve tried xVidCap, but I can figure out how you record with it...
A guide to that would be appriciated as well!

The only two I know of are XVidCap and gtk-recordmydesktop. You could try tweaking the settings of gtk-rmd becuase it sortof worked for me.
