Steam Resolution Problems

When I load a game that runs the hl2 engine everything is fine, but when I go to load the hl.exe engine, the game comes up in what looks like 800x600 floating in the screen regardless of -w/-width/-h/-height settings and window settings. How can I get it to a higher res?

You're not getting any help because you've not really given us a lot to go on.

For a start, can you tell us: What version of Wine you're using, in particular which games you're having issues with, the graphics card you have (and the drivers you have for it), and, if possible, give us the terminal output when you run these games in Wine from the terminal.
