View Full Version : [ubuntu] Moduel Chipsets for my Laptop??

currently my laptop (which is a Inspiron 1420N) has a Intel graphics media accelorator 3100X graphics card. i was wondering if it is moduel so i can order a Nivida off the internet and when i recieve it, just unscrew a bottom panel to my laptop and switch the cards out, is this possible?

I hate to tell you this but...
Short Answer: You can't remove the Intel Integrated Card
Long Answer: You could, however, you would have to do some serious micro soldering to get it to work. You see, Intel Integrated cards are not meant to be removed because they are integrated into the motherboard. So, if you want a brand spanking new GPU, you will have to get another motherboard that supports removable GPU cards.
