Greetings!
Lately my optical usb mouse freezes.
The light goes out and poof it doesn't work.
I unplug the mouse, and plug it in,
then it will work for a while, then crash again.
I now have it plugged into a different port and it has been working for 10 minutes, so far so good.
Any suggestions?
Do you think it just might be a dying mouse, or a dying usb port
or some other issue?
Thanks.

Easiest way is to find another mouse and test it. Plug the other one in and if it too fails, then good chance is your computer's motherboard is going, if it doesn't fail, your mouse is going.

Motherboard?
Ouch!
I was thinking if it was the usb connection on the mb
I might be able to simply put in a usb pci card.
In any case, no problems for a couple of hours now.
Im keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm having a similar problem (in that my USB mouse freezes) in kubuntu. It's fine for a bit then stops working. The light is still on, but it won't move, and unplugging/replugging just makes it turn off. I just installed kubuntu dual boot with windows xp, and the mouse works fine there. Any suggestions? I'm a newbie so be gentle.
