gbadvance would not work or load any ROM?

Okay, I have gnomeboyadvance show up on my menu from games. I have option to import or export games before hitting play to attempt to play the ROM, however, nothing happens.
Do I have to go and change the permissions of the visualboyadvance executable or something since gnomeboyadvance is a front end that uses visualboyadv?

I have been battling this issue or problem for a week now.

go to synaptic and install vbaexpress. It should then come up in the menu under games.

You can even use a gamepad or joystick with vbaexpress easily with almost no configuration.
