Okay: I have a Pentuim 4 2.6 ghz, 1 gig of RAM, and a Radeon 9800 128mb graphics card. I checked the "Use proprietary driver" button and everything seems to work smoothly.

However, when I try to do anything involving heavy graphics, such as screensavers, my computer starts running at a crawl. It also has problems when programs go fullscreen, such as frets on fire. Trying to change resolutions in the game causes it to crash to the desktop, leaving it in 640x480 (which it is NOT supposed to be). After this, I must reboot. The reboot brings everything to normal, but I still cannot do any heavy 3D graphics stuff.

I figure that there must be something wrong with my video card, but I have no real clue what to do about it (only have had Ubuntu for about a week). I have not really tried much. The hardware test also has problems, as it gives me an "impossible" resolution error and cannot complete the video test.

Thanks in advance.
