Try the "LIVE" CD before you attempt to install and see if you run into any problems there first.

Then you might want to consider actually installing it to your hard drive if everything goes O.K. with the Live session.

I would still suggest that you have everything backed up just in case.

Hi Marsia.

I have got the Advent 4211, great so far!

I have put Ubuntu on it. I have used Wubi which did not work too well, slow and issues with the swap space.

A full install of a SD card follwoing the instuctions here

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick

I used UNetbootin to put the iso image stuff onto the SD card.

The guys here http://msiwind.net/ have got hold of a wirless card driver (see forum and wiki). It just does not quite work well enough.

Any ideas why it will not connect properly some times would be appriciated.

I'll be running windows for the min, shame as it looks great running Ubuntu with compiz!!!!

Hope that helps,

Olly

I have MSI Wind badged version, which is the same laptot. I have just taken out the wifi card and popped in an Intel 3945ABG replacement. Everything now perfect.

I have to admit opening up my shiny new Wind was not a good moment, but if you are very careful the card transfer is straightforward.

I'm sure the drivers will improve if you are patient. I wasn't.
