I just installed Cairo-Dock and when I click on it nothing comes up, what should I do?

Launch it using cairo-dock -m in the terminal. This will open the options panel so you can configure it. What you want to find out is if it's "hiding" on an edge, and which edge it's hiding on.

Can anyone give me a guide on how to get this working, maybe another dock.

you're missing some dependencies.
