Dell Inspiron 7000

I am trying to install UBUNTU on my Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop. The computer will not recognize the DVD. Any suggestions on what I can do to solve this problem?

I installed Ubuntu 7.04 CD on an Inspiron 7500.

I mistakenly bought a DVD, and like for you, it did not work.

After installing from CD, I tried an upgrade to 7.10, but sound did not work and there was some amount of noticable slowing down of the applications in general. So, I have since returned to just 7.04, and I am satisfied with the performance.
