I'm relatively new to Ubuntu; started using it a couple of months ago. Using Ubuntu 8.04 - fully updated.

But there is a couple of things i cant find in Ubuntu, that i found useful in Windows.

Like the hardware-list, viewing every piece of the computer, the status and which driver its using, etc.
And the screen/display dialog, allowing to change all those settings at one place.

Got a map? :)

System->Preferences->Hardware Information and System->Preferences->Screen Resolution are the two things you're looking for..

There isn't any Hardware Information at "system > pref." wierd.
The screen resolution thingie doesn't show what drivers I'm using.

Anyhooo.. Thank you for your replay! That goes to all of you.
System info and Gnome-device-manager was exactly the thing i was looking for.

Gotta love this forum! :o)

I installed Sysinfo from the Ubuntu Hardy repos and now look what I found...

Why is this here? I do not have WINE installed on this machine.

Yeah I saw that too. I booted into WinXP and ran it. Ir tried to. It ran a DOS window and crapped out with some java errors. I have to trust that it is there for a reason and that the repo maintainers know what they're doing.
