When someone says "type knode" how do I do that? (where).

Go to Applications>Accessories>Terminal and type it there.

As far as where: Accessories > Terminal, but I never execute a command without some kind of verification.

Generally just typing the command + Ubuntu into a search engine will bring up a load of results.

Actually I wished I'd also added that for nOObs like me Synaptic is always safe:

Safer for installing packages, but you use the CL for more than that!
