Hi,

I am wondering if anyone is using an HP 3600n successfully with Dapper.

The Open Printing database list the model as working completely.

My teenage daughter, a longtime, non-techie, linux user is looking for a colour laser.

I have never had any problems setting up any true PS capable printers for her. Other things have been hit and miss.

So... just wondering if anyone has any feedback before I go drop a couple of hundred bucks.

Thanks.

):P

If this is the same printer as the HP Color laserjet 3600, that it is listed under the HP printer selections under System/Administration/Printing, then I don't see why it would not work.

Thanks. I suppose what I mean is there is "work" and then there is "work." Many printers can be "made" to work. But some of these many don't work all that well. So what I am wondering is if there are any "issues" and if the print quality for text and images is acceptable.

I have one, and it works great -- just make sure to use the "hpijs" driver instead of the default recommended "pxljr" driver, which has a minor bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/foomatic-db/+bug/228635) -- if you don't know how to change the driver, just follow the instructions I posted here (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/foomatic-db/+bug/228635/comments/3).
