noticeable delay while playing midi keyboard

Hi!

I recently tried to connenct a midi keyboard to my ubuntu machine via usb adapter. When I record my playing with rosegarden there is a delay between hitting a key and output/record of about 200 ms which is acceptable for just recording one track but makes it impossible to do live arrangements.

I tried the same using Windows - no delay, at least I cannot hear it.

My ubuntu uses rt-kernel, I tried it with and without jack and other softsequencers like lmms returned the same results.

Is anyone having the same issues? Any solutions? I will appreciate any help.
