I would like to set Amarok as my preferred and have done the following so far.
Gone into Preferred Applications and pulled the drop down menu where I get Rythmbox,Movieplayer and Custom as my only options. I have pressed on Custom and typed in amarok.

This has not worked and I still get Rythmbox coming up.I have tried running it with the "Run in terminal" ticked and without it ticked. I have no further options that I can see.

Can some assist.
Thanks simon

try typing in a terminal

whereis amarok

it'll give you a couple different locations of where the program is situated.
Take the first one. It should be something like

/usr/bin/amarok

and done. At least I hope.

right click on an mp3 and select properties, then open with. If Amarok isn't in the list, add it. Then select it explicitly. All of your mp3s will now default to Amarok.

Thanks you for the two responses. Appreciated.
Just to let you know that I tried the second (Layzard??) suggestion first and this did not work.
However the first suggestion did.
Thanks to both of you for taking the time.
