View Full Version : [ubuntu] I want to write a driver.

Yeah, basically.

I'd like to write a driver for the USB ADSL Modem 'Speedtouch 330'.
As it doesn't have proper support under Linux. You need to use a proprietary driver and configure it by hand. As it is proprietary, Ubuntu doesn't include out of the box support.

So I would like to write an open source driver for it - so anyone can use Ubuntu with this modem.

Reasons why people use this modem :

They can't fork out for a router
It came with their ISP

So yeah, where could I start, what would I need to learn?

Read Linux Device Drivers (http://lwn.net/Kernel/LDD3/) 3rd edition.
