So I have a movie that was made in Spain, but had the english subtitles with it. I installed ksubtile and added the subtitles to the video. Now when I play it with mplayer, the video shows the subtitles fine, but when I send the video to my mp3 player (Archos 605) the video does not have subtitles. How can I add them so that they are there no matter what the video is playing on?

From what I can find (google), the Archos 605 doesn't support soft subtitle, aka .srt, .sub, etc. E.g. here:

You would probably need to embed the subtitle into the video itself, i.e. hardsub.

I tried that and after I saved the file it still had no subtitles

Maybe the subtitle, in the lower part of the video, got cropped. Did you check if the Archos is scaling the video properly, or cropping some part of the video?
