Hey I was just starting this post because I wanted to say thanks to everyone on these forums. I have been using ubuntu now for about 3 weeks and I must say it is the best OS I have ever used. Yes this is the first Linux distro I have ever actively used (not from a livecd). I came from Vista if it matters and can say that not only have I removed my Vista partition but I have also destroyed my MS vista DVD and recovery discs that came with my laptop.
My laptop is is a HP DV2000 and has a broadcom wireless card, this was the only set back I had during installation. I can say that after searching the forums and tinkering around for a while a linux newbie like myself got the wireless up and running in a little under an hour. I have been spending the last few weeks getting used to using linux on a daily basis and setting things up only as needed (I didn't want to overload myself). I have setup my network so that I can read/write to my wife's xp box and she can do the same on my linux. I have also found and installed my printer via cups (so easy btw).
Searching these forums for everything I wanted to do be it install AWN, look for themes, new log ons, apps, etc.. It is so easy and there is just soo much info here available. I have learned more about my pc in the last few weeks then I have in a LONG time... I am also much more comfortable with the CL now which is always good.
Anyways I won't ramble on anymore I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that posts on this site and let you all know that I have used so many different posts to help me get to where I am at today..
Thanks again..
